About Me
Darrell Clausen is a writer whose work draws upon his extensive travel and a sustained engagement with Asian cultures, mostly Japan. His books are based on real life incidents, and offer thoughtful and evocative characters, places, and historical background that will remain with the reader.
Clausen’s life experience blends fact with fiction. He served in the U.S.
Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War, with postings in Thailand and Japan, and later lived in Asia for 11years. He graduated from the prestigious International Christian University in Japan and holds a Master’s Degree from Tokyo’s Sophia University. His extensive travel throughout Europe and Asia has provided him with a nuanced understanding of the cultures and histories that permeate his narratives.
Through his fiction, he offers readers themes of personal identity, conflict, and transformation. His work is formed by an enduring interest in different cultures and historical context located in diverse settings.
Each book offers a distinct perspective, and reflection on the forces that shape individuals and societies. His work continues to evolve from his experience and imagination, based on observations garnered from his travels.
